DESCRIPTION:Body Matters: Understanding Eating Disorders and the Journey to Recovery\nJoin our panel of experts in breaking the silence to remove the stigma of eating disorders.  This presentation will cover:\n\nEducation about Eating Disorders\nWarning Signs and Symptoms\nHow to talk about eating disorders\nSteps to recovery\n\nThank you to our presenters: \n\nWendy Miller: Wendy has been a compulsive overeater her entire life.  She has been in recovery from this disease for 16 years.   She’s here to carry a message of hope as she shares her story of struggle as a compulsive overeater and how she found recovery from this disease.  She is also a parent at Platt Middle School and will be commenting on eating disorders from a parent perspective.\nLize Britton: Lize was a four-time Colorado state cross country and track champion and twice qualified for the Kinney National Championships\, placing seventh as a senior after winning the regional meet in Wisconsin. She also won and set the record at the grueling Pikes Peak Ascent. As a freshman in college\, she placed second at The Athletics Congress Junior Cross-Country Championships and continued to set records in mountain races around Colorado\, all while struggling with an eating disorder. Committed to her recovery\, Lize now works as a writer and is an advocate for eating disorder recovery. She’s also the manager at SmithKlein Gallery downtown.\nDana  L. McDowell\, MA\, LPC\, CEDS:  a licensed Psychotherapist & Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS)\nShe is the former President & Founder of the Denver Metro Int’l Association of Eating Disorder Professionals Chapter (iaedp)\nand the founder of New Beginnings Psychotherapy\, LLC   Her passion is holistic healing with a commitment to helping clients reach optimal wellness naturally.\n\nSpecial thanks to Jackson Miller\, a student at Platt Middle School\, whose passion to bring light to this subject made this event possible.  Seeing the need for more education and support for youth around eating disorders\, Jackson contacted PEN to assist him in creating this program as part of his Mitzvah project.
