DESCRIPTION:Explore the wonderful world of birds in a beautiful place! See a live falcon and other birds of prey up close and view birds in the wild through spotting scopes and binoculars. Learn about migration\, marshes and the role avian friends play in our lives. Enjoy games\, art projects and a scavenger hunt. These and other activities will be featured at the 4rd Annual “Celebrating Bird Migration” at Lafayette’s Waneka Lake and Greenlee Wildlife Preserve Open Space.\nThe 1/3 mile walking path between the parking area and Greenlee Wildlife Preserve will feature several local organizations with great activities and displays to offer! In addition to Lafayette Open Space\, the following groups will be on hand to entertain and educate: Environment for the Americas (home of International Migratory Bird Day)\, Wild Wings Environmental Education\, the Lafayette Rec Center\, the Lafayette Historical Society\, Boulder County Audubon Society\, Thorne Nature Experience\, the American Birding Association Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee\, Empowerment Center of East County\, JAX Outdoor Gear and Broomfield Open Space (with the Broomfield Bird Club). The Parent Engagement Network is also a co-sponsor. This free\, public event is suitable for all ages and will also feature an array of fine door prizes. \nThis program begins at the Waneka Lake East parking lot\, where Emma St. ends at Caria Drive in Lafayette. DESCRIPTION:An Outdoor Storytelling Celebration for Families (kids 8 and up)\nSaturday\, Sept. 16\, 1:00 p.m.   \nOutdoor Classroom Open Space Amphitheater  \n111 W Baseline Rd\, Lafayette (near Lafayette Rec Center)\nEnjoy indigenous tales in the great outdoors!  Our featured storyteller is Dr. Bailey Phelps\, a member of the Cherokee Nation a professional storyteller and Native flute player for over 50 years!   He was the featured storyteller for the Native American village at Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming for 5 years and has been a featured teller at two annual Rocky Mountain Storytelling events.  Dr. Phelps has performed at numerous libraries\, schools\, and museums\, including Princeton University.   Also\, volunteer storytellers from the Broomfield and Longmont Library chapters of Spellbinders will also share a story or two. \nFor more info\, contact Martin Ogle at Martin@EntrepreneurialEarth.com  Please note: seating is “stadium seating” –without backs.   Feel free to bring a stadium seat.  Limited room for folding chairs or wheelchairs also available; NO RSVP required
